ADT INTERVENES TO TAKE CARE OF AN UNAPPROACHABLE HORSE
When the Animal Welfare Unit called the ADT - Animal Disaster Team for help, it was to come to help a difficult horse, out of reach for any human approach. Following the death of his companions, this lonely horse had never really experienced human contact, developing suspicion and even aggression towards humans upon our arrival.
Despite our efforts to reassure him, his suspicion persisted. It was then that we called on the VUSC (Emergency veterinarians) to administer a sedative. Their expertise has been valuable in this difficult situation, and we are grateful to them.
After two doses, the horse calmed down, allowing us to get close enough to guide him to our vehicle. His imposing weight, about 450 kilos, made it impossible to load him in the truck without the help of a hoist.
Fortunately, everything ended well for him. He is currently being welcomed to Help Animals and receives the necessary care to improve his situation. This intervention has been an example of collaboration and dedication to animal welfare, and we are proud to have contributed to a happy ending for this reluctant horse.
