A marathon day dedicated to rescue: ostrich, fallow deer, macaws, buzzards and kookaburras rescued.
During this rescue operation, the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) joined ARS in Mechelen, responding to the call of the Rivierenland Police to rescue several exotic animals.
The day began with the thrilling care of five fallow deer, weakened by extreme thinness. Our teams worked to extract these animals following teleanaesthesias performed by the veterinarian.
Then came the challenge of the ostrich, with its massive beak and imposing claws. We managed to secure the bird, carefully transferring it to a shelter suitable for its needs.

ADT rescues 15 dogs from horrific living conditions.
In a poignant intervention, the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) recently responded to a critical call from our partner, the Walloon Union for Animal Protection (UWPA), reporting a situation of extreme distress involving 28 dogs in Profondeville.
When the ADT teams arrived, they were confronted with a heartbreaking sight: the dogs were in an alarmingly distressed state, living in a confined, dirt-strewn space of just 20 square meters. These animals, neglected and deprived of care, were in a state of great distress.

A crow rescued by ADT - Animal Disaster Team.
In an exciting recent intervention, the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) responded to an urgent call from Creaves in Ransart for a crow in distress, trapped in a boiler room. This rescue highlights ADT's dedication and expertise in rescuing animals in difficulty.
The crow had taken refuge over 4 meters high in a cluttered boiler room, creating a delicate situation for the rescue team. Tight spaces, tight ducts and intense heat added further complexity to the rescue mission.

ADT works with firefighters and VUSC to protect animals.
When it comes to rescuing animals in crisis situations, every second counts. That's why the Animal Disaster Team (ADT) engages in collaborative exercises with firefighters and Emergency Veterinarians for Rescue and Disasters (VUSC) to hone their skills and be ready to act quickly when animals are in distress. These simulations are crucial to ensuring that our teams can intervene effectively when it comes to rescuing animals.
The Challenge: During our last exercise with firefighters from the Gembloux station of the NAGE rescue zone, we were faced with a scenario in which a horse was involved in a road accident. In this simulation, animal mannequins were used to recreate as realistic a situation as possible.
